Early Alerts in Lakeland Navigate
Lakeland Navigate is a student success platform designed to help proactively manage student success. Early Alerts is a way to help students who are struggling by linking them to a coordinated care network of administrators and support staff at Lakeland.

Note: Some concerns and referrals automatically create a case that is assigned to the listed staff areas to review and provide outreach. Faculty can see and add comments on these cases and will receive a notification when the case is closed.

Students receive an automated email from “Lakeland Student Success” when an alert is raised, regardless of whether the alert opens a case. Students get immediate feedback when the alert is issued, and when cases open, they will receive additional outreach from staff.
All current and prior alerts can be seen by staff who are working to support students receiving alerts.

Accessing Early Alerts

Begin by logging in to your myLakeland account.

From your myLakeland home page, click the “Faculty” tab on the side bar on the left then click Early Alerts.

A new page opens. Click the Access Early Alerts button.

Raising Alerts and Giving Kudos
From the Lakeland Navigate home page, click the triangle and select “Professor” to view your courses for the current semester. Click the Progress Reports link to view the roster of students for a course.
To raise an alert or offer kudos:
- Find the name of the student on your roster.
- Check the box next to their name.
- Click on “Actions” at the top of the list.
- Click “Create a New Progress Report.”
When adding an alert, a box will pop up asking for more information. The information you enter is crucial for staff who are reaching out to support students. Please provide as much information as possible.

To issue an alert:

Indicate if the student is at risk of failing your class.

Select at least one alert reason from the drop-down box.

Enter the number of absences, if relevant.

Enter the current grade, if applicable.

Provide additional comments to help those providing outreach to the student.

Please note:
- Multiple alert reasons can be selected, however, please choose the most critical concern and provide additional concerns and details in the comments section.
- Comments are not seen by the student and provide valuable context to the staff who make contact with the student. Please do not leave the comments section blank.
Ad Hoc Alerts
Alerts can be raised from your professor home page from the “Students in My Courses” list or by clicking on the “Issue and Alert” link and searching for a student by name or Lakeland ID Number (LID). This should only be done if you raise an alert for a student not currently enrolled in your classes. To raise an alert for a student in one of your classes, please do so through the Progress Report link by following the instructions in this document.
Ad hoc alerts are not automatically connected to a specific course and do not provide as much detail as the early alerts from the “Progress Report” link. To ensure an efficient and effective process, please only raise alerts through “Progress Reports” unless the student is not currently enrolled in your classes this semester.
