I cannot add a mashup, image or attach a file to my discussion post or assignment.

Issue/Question

  • I cannot add a mashup, image, or attach a file to my discussion post.
  • I am missing the mashup option in the text editor.

Environment

  • Blackboard Learn (Original Course View)

User Role

  • Student

Cause

  • The text editor action/icon bar is collapsed.
  • OR
  • The instructor has disabled the option (discussions).

Resolution

  • Verify the action/icon bar is fully expanded by clicking the chevron in the top right corner of the visual text box editor.

Collapsed:

  • If the action bar is expanded but the icon to attach a file or image is still missing, please contact the instructor. The instructor can control whether or not you have access to attach files or images in your discussion post. If they have not selected the option for 'Allow File Attachments', you will not see the image icon or file attachment icon.

File Attachments Enabled:

The new plus (+) button allows you to attach files and content with ease. The plus (+) button replaces attach documents, inline images, Panopto, and mashups.
